HEALING METHODS
Somatic Psychotherapy
The Somatic Experiencing method is a body-oriented approach to the healing of trauma and other stress disorders. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine, resulting from his multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, together with other 45 years of successful clinical application. The SE ™ approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. Somatic Psychotherapy heavily informs the world view and all therapeutic interventions and community offerings of Palo Santo.
EMDR Psychotherapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy tool that has become widely accepted as one of the leading-edge interventions for processing trauma and life stressors. At Palo Santo, we employ a somatically-informed EMDR process, constantly assessing the nervous system for what it needs to help move through and release traumatic experiences. EMDR can be a great tool to assist the brain and body healing from trauma by helping remove the fight/flight/freeze charge that exists as a result of past trauma.
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an innovative method used to address a variety of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety and underlying trauma among others, where Ketamine sessions are blended with psychotherapy sessions with a licensed clinician who is trained to work with the subconscious material that becomes available during the medicine sessions. This approach is innovated and very promising in the field of mental health.

“Human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening - a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation.”
Peter Levine, Ph.D.
Developer of the Somatic Experiencing Method
SANKALPA
Sankalpa is a Sanskrit term describing an intention formed in the mind which draws strength from the heart. Sankalpa is a solemn vow, a heartfelt desire, or a life’s prayer.
Ingenuity
Leading research displays the beauty of each individual nervous system, its unique neurodiversity, and imprinting of ancestral experiences in our genetics. At Palo Santo, we offer cutting-edge trauma healing through ego state integration and mind/body/spirit wholeness. Our interventions are innovative, evidence-based, and grounded in the ingenuity of research.
Mindfulness
As trauma counselors, we prioritize resting within ourselves as we sit and work with you. If we are not aware of our own shadows of shame, pain, and grief, it hinders our capacity to sit with yours. At The health and wellness of our clients is our utmost concern, but so is the health and wellness of our team. And that ultimately means better trauma counseling and better healing.
Community
We heal through connection with ourselves and our community. Palo Santo strives to reconnect people through individual services and group restorative experiences—along with the clinical training events for healing professionals. The work of healing goes far beyond our team at Palo Santo, and we are honored to link arms with our vibrant and diverse community.
Trauma inherently disconnects us from ourselves and the world around us. For Palo Santo, healing trauma is not only about employing innovative clinical interventions, but also about reconnecting with ourselves and the medicine of our family, our community, and our earth.
